Breathe Life In Today

I was sitting at lunch the other day working when an older man approached me; he apologized for looking over my shoulder but noticed I worked with children in some capacity because of what I had pulled up on my computer. When I told him what I do he said “seems like these young kids have so many problems these days that we didn’t have in my day”. I totally agree with him, childhood illnesses are on the rise; our children’s health trajectory is being challenged DAILY!

What you may not know is that asthma was a difficulty I faced as a child. I am the daughter of a nurse, I used an inhaler as needed and we went about our day hoping nothing escalated. Well, the time has come that our communities are seeing that escalation. In recent years 1 in 12 people are now affected by asthma!

I experienced symptoms well into college but it wasn’t until I was receiving regular chiropractic care that I noticed there was LIFE without an inhaler and I was capable of doing activities that had previously aggravated my symptoms. By having my nervous system clear of interference I have been able to live my life to the fullest with optimal function.

Let’s take it back to the beginning..... you may be wondering, “How does chiropractic care help my asthma, which is a breathing issue not a spine problem?"

Chiropractic care is beneficial because our breathing and our lungs are controlled by nerves.

  • The phrenic nerve serves the diaphragm and those nerve roots come from the cervical spine, the neck.

  • The musculature that serves the purpose of breathing, functions because of nerves in the neck and mid back

  • The vagus nerve supplies the lungs, the heart, and your digestive tract!

  • All of these nerves are going to come from your spinal cord (or pass closely to it) and then through your spinal column, all can be affected.

Chiropractic makes sure that this part of your nervous system is able to function the best it can by removing any interference! Getting to the root of WHY you or your child's breathing is being affected, not just treating the symptoms.

There are other ways that can help regulate breathing and reduce inflammation in addition to regular chiropractic care:

  1. Keeping an eye on your diet – avoiding foods that you may have intolerance to (dairy, egg, etc).

  2. Utilize supplementation, check in with your healthcare provider to see what recommendations they have for you!

Breathing is the act of life and we want to give YOU your life back!

Make a reservation for you and your child to get checked!
